Ouch. Well, are you using one? You can buy them through Amazon. What is it? Simply put, it’s a way for programs like GMail to verify your identity, using something physical that you hold on your person. If you’ve signed up to use it, you’re much safer because someone has to be in physical possession of that key in order to access your emails, etc.
It’s a little plastic “key” that you stick in your computer. It verifies that you are… you! It makes it that much harder for someone to log in from an unknown location and pretend they’re you, getting into your emails or protected data.
Why is this better?
Hackers have learned how to “spoof” (intercept and fake) the text message codes you get for verification. Holding something on your person gives you an added layer of security.
If your campaigns aren’t using a Yubikey for all staff (at home and at work), I’d be very concerned. Please go get one now. Don’t delay.
